Sophia brings to Fertile Ground a lifelong dedication to medicine and health. She was on the path to becoming an allopathic medical doctor when she experienced her own personal healing journey through Chinese medicine and decided to change course. Sophia graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwestern Health Sciences University with her Masters of Acupuncture. She is licensed by the Minnesota Medical Board and board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) to practice acupuncture. Before her masters studies, she completed her Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience from the University of St. Thomas, where she headed a study on the role of acupuncture on pain modulation that she later presented at the 2009 Society for Neuroscience conference in Chicago.
Sophia has practiced in a variety of clinical settings since 2014. In addition to treating fertility, pregnancy and other women’s health concerns she has an interest in treating pain, insomnia, anxiety and digestive issues. She is passionate about using acupuncture and Chinese medicine to help individuals get to the root of their health struggles, rather than just managing symptoms. Her work is fueled by the belief that our health is our most valuable asset, and is worth working to protect and maintain.
Sophia supports women going through IVF by performing transfer day acupuncture treatments onsite at the Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM), Reproductive Medicine and Infertility Associates (RMIA), and the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine (CCRM).
Sophia has a passion for justice, and a long history of working for positive change in our world. She sees her work as a way she can serve women and families and support our humanity.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters, being outdoors, writing, camping, and cooking good food.
