Kara founded Fertile Ground in 2007 with the goal of offering holistic support for women who are trying to conceive, who are pregnant or postpartum. Her clinical approach is based on 20 years of experience in women’s health and her extensive knowledge of reproductive medicine.  Kara leads an exceptional team of practitioners, providing the best that the Twin Cities has to offer in holistic reproductive care.

Kara offers education, acupuncture, personalized Chinese herbal prescriptions and other therapies to empower patients to move towards their goals, and to achieve and maintain life-long health. She supports women going through IVF by performing transfer day acupuncture treatments onsite at the Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM), Reproductive Medicine and Infertility Associates (RMIA), and the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine (CCRM).

Kara has had a passion for holistic healing and reproductive medicine since the early 1990’s. As a young woman she had the opportunity to live and attend births with a village midwife in India. This transformative experience left her with the certainty that she wanted to work with women throughout their journey of conception, pregnancy and motherhood.  She is grateful for the ancient tools of Chinese medicine, which have allowed her to help hundreds of couples achieve their family-building dreams with greater health, comfort and ease.

Kara is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed by the Minnesota State Medical Board. Kara has a bachelors degree from Oberlin College and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Masters degree in Oriental medicine from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN.  She has completed the comprehensive training and examination to become certified by the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) and was one of the first ABORM fellows in the state of Minnesota.

In her free time Kara enjoys connecting with friends and spending time with her family.  Together they enjoy walking in the woods, biking, dancing and making music together.
